"Valley Views…A Postcard Perspective"

A look at the Santa Ynez Valley in postcards from 1890 - 1970

Postcards can truly chronicle the history of an area through wonderful pictures of special spots. This exhibit features mounted prints and displays of actual postcards with associated historical text and reference. It also takes a look at how postcards came into being and how they were used for family photographs and novelty cards.

Exhibit area with a variety of picture “viewers” will be available for viewing images. Do you remember looking at travel photos through a View Master? If you don’t visit the exhibit and try one out!

Travel memorabilia and turn of the century postcard albums are also featured in exhibit below.

  "Layers"

Unique composite images by Kam Jacoby of historic Valley places then and now.

Take an early 1900’s photo of a historic Valley “spot” and then layer it with a current image from the same Valley “spot” and you’re got a melding of old and new into one unique art piece. Acclaimed for his “Layers” exhibits Kam Jacoby brings a bright new dimension to “history”.
